Taking Back the ‘Trash’
Nov 24
INVESTIGATORS WHO EXPOSED RADICAL ISLAMIC FRONT GROUP FULFILL COURT ORDER WITH TOUCH OF HUMOR

(WASHINGTON) Nov. 24, 2009—When he was volunteering as their intern, the Council on American-Islamic Relations told Chris Gaubatz to shred the “trash.” But when that “trash”—which tied CAIR to known terror groups, exposed its efforts to undermine national security and revealed its intent to advance Saudi-style authority over U.S. citizens—became the basis for the top-selling book, CAIR sued to get their “trash” back.

To comply with a federal court order, Dave Gaubatz, co-author of Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America, and his son, Chris Gaubatz, who headed the undercover investigation into CAIR’s Washington, D.C., headquarters, are returning the salvaged documents—and throwing in a little something special.

“At over 12,000 pages, it’s a lot of material to go through—and I speak from personal experience when I say that,” said Dave Gaubatz, a decorated counter-terrorism specialist and expert on the stealth strategies devised by Islamist networks. “To make it easier for them to find the really juicy, embarrassing and incriminating stuff, we included several copies of the book—autographed them, too.”

Defending the Gaubatzes is legendary First Amendment attorney Martin Garbus, whose clients list includes Ronald Reagan, Nelson Mandela, Robert Redford, Spike Lee and Al Pacino.

“(There’s) no point in having a fight over the right to distribute documents that have already been distributed,” Garbus said. “My client had this material for a long time, and I presume during that long time other people saw it. So whatever use is being made of the document, I presume has already been made.”

Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, the parent company of WND Books, which published Muslim Mafia, noted that the Gaubatz had already turned many of those documents over to law enforcement, “not typically the practice of those interested in ’stealing’ things,” he said. “I know the defendants in this lawsuit would prefer to see all the material handed over to law enforcement for review before being returned to CAIR.

“What is being returned to CAIR are documents that were headed for CAIR’s shredder,” Farah added. “Once CAIR was eager to dispose of them. Now, suddenly, the group is treating them like they are the crown jewels. Go figure.”

Muslim Mafia, published by WND Books, prompted outrage by key members of Congress, who called for investigations into CAIR’s actions and associations. The book is packed with pages of recently declassified government documents and evidence from the covert operation, including thousands of e-mails, faxes and internal memos that CAIR never intended for public viewing.

Some of the key smoking-gun revelations detailed in the book include:

  • Means CAIR employs to excuse, protect and prevent police from prosecuting Muslim men who beat their wives, decreeing such beatings as OK for American Muslims to inflict so long as no mark remains.
  • How closely CAIR was connected to the “flying imams” incident, which recently settled out of court, directing lawsuits against airline passenger—regular citizens—who reported suspicious activity.
  • Troubled by several of its associations and actions, the Justice Department labeled CAIR an “unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation,” a group convicted last year of funding the Palestinian militant Islamist group Hamas.
  • How CAIR debated launching a smear campaign against Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer of California after she cited concerns over its associations.
