Shadegg, Franks call for investigation of Council on American Islamic Relations
Oct 21

Congressmen John Shadegg and Trent Franks are calling for an investigation of the Council on American Islamic Relations following allegations that it could be involved with terrorist cells and may have tried to plant interns on congressional security panels.

The Phoenix-area Republicans joined other GOP congressmen in the move after the allegations were published in a new book by author Paul Sperry called “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America.”

CAIR said on its Web site the claims are unfounded and untrue. The Muslim group also called the claims and calls for an investigation racist.

Franks said CAIR’s links to other Muslim groups with extremist backgrounds or members should be investigated.
